Omaha Community Playhouse Building turns 60!

On August 6, 1959 - the Omaha Community Playhouse opened its brand new building at 6915 Cass Street with the musical, Say Darling.

"I still remember it well: I acted as host and interviewer for a special news segment, talking to many of the most distinguished members of the Omaha community who were there – all decked out in black tie attire. I was proud to be among them. That opening night was a significant event in Omaha, as it ushered in a new chapter in OCP’s history and celebrated the amazing community leaders and supporters who helped bring this project to fruition. The community support that made OCP’s home on 69th and Cass a reality was simply enchanting – everyone understood what a truly important addition it was to the Omaha community."
