Grease follows the story of Danny Zuko and Sandy Dumbrowski, who fall in love over the summer and then face the challenges of high school life at Rydell High. The musical explores themes of teenage rebellion, peer pressure, and the journey of self-discovery.

Character Breakdown

  • Danny Zuko: The cool, confident leader of the Burger Palace Boys. He has a charming personality and falls for Sandy.
  • Sandy Dumbrowski: The sweet, naive new girl in town who captures Danny’s heart. She undergoes a transformation by the end of the musical.
  • Betty Rizzo: The tough, sarcastic leader of the Pink Ladies. She has a vulnerable side and a complicated relationship with Kenickie.
  • Kenickie: Danny’s best friend and second-in-command of the Burger Palace Boys. He’s tough and has a rebellious streak.
  • Frenchy: A dreamy, good-natured member of the Pink Ladies who aspires to be a beautician.
  • Marty: The sophisticated beauty of the Pink Ladies who tries to act older than she is.
  • Jan: The funny, loud, and awkward member of the Pink Ladies who loves to eat.
  • Doody: The youngest of the Burger Palace Boys, known for his boyish charm and guitar skills.
  • Sonny Latierri: A braggart and wheeler-dealer among the Burger Palace Boys, who thinks he’s a lady-killer.
  • Roger: The clown of the group, always dreaming up schemes and enjoying mischief.
  • Vince Fontaine: A slick, fast-talking disc jockey and veteran greaser.
  • Cha-Cha (Charlene Digregorio): The best dancer at St. Bernadette’s, known for her loud personality.
  • Eugene Florczyk: The class valedictorian, physically awkward and gullible.
  • Johnny Casino: A rock-star greaser student at Rydell High.
  • Miss Lynch: The serious, loud English teacher.
  • Patty Simcox: The typical cheerleader, athletic and sure of herself, but unpopular with the Pink Ladies.
  • Ensemble: Students at Rydell High School.

Auditions will be held at the Omaha Community Playhouse. Enter through the stage door on the West side of the building near the loading dock. Please bring sheet music and prepare 2 contrasting songs (32 bars) from musical theater or in the style of the show. An accompanist will be provided. Be sure to wear comfortable clothing and dance shoes/sneakers as there will also be a movement/dance call.

Video Submissions

We will also be accepting video submissions for those who are unable to attend in person. Select ‘Video’  and paste link to your video in the space provided on the audition form. Deadline for video auditions is Monday, June 2nd at 5:00pm (cst)
