WHAT IS “PLANNED GIVING”?
You might have heard the phrase before, but what exactly is a “planned gift?” These are gifts that anyone can make but usually require some advanced planning. These gifts are popular because of the valuable tax benefits and/or income they can provide. Some of the ways you could make a planned gift to the Omaha Community Playhouse or Omaha Community Playhouse Foundation include: wills, life insurance, securities, retirement assets, trusts, annuities or real estate.
You can leave a specific sum, a specific asset, a percentage of the overall estate, or “whatever is leftover” after you have provided for your loved ones. Studies indicate that only 20% of people take advantage of the tax savings available when naming charitable organizations in their wills. This type of gift is also sometimes called a Bequest. Bequests can be made to "The Omaha Community Playhouse Foundation" whose Tax ID Number is: 47-0700795.
You can name the Omaha Community Playhouse Foundation as the full or partial beneficiary or beneficiary and owner on a life insurance policy.
Donating appreciated assets, such as stocks, bonds, or mutual funds may provide a charitable deduction without the capital gains taxes generated from simply selling the asset.
Most retirement plans are subject to income tax as well as estate taxes which can be partially offset using a charitable deduction if the asset is left to the Omaha Community Playhouse Foundation. Your spouse’s consent may be necessary to leave all or a portion of your retirement assets to the Omaha Community Playhouse Foundation
There are many types of trusts. We encourage you to discuss your unique situation with qualified advisors to determine the best option for you and your family. Examples of trusts include living trusts, charitable lead trusts and charitable remainder trusts.
Charitable Gift Annuity
Gift annuities can provide an immediate income tax deduction, avoidance of capital gains tax, and increased income depending on the nature of the asset used to fund the gift annuity.
Real Estate and Personal Property
Please contact the Omaha Community Playhouse if you are interested in donating a real estate or other property gift.
Please contact the
at (402) 553-4890, ext. 127 for more information on any of the above topics.
Some donors making planned gifts will be eligible to join the Omaha Community Playhouse Encore Society!
This is a special group of forward-thinking donors who have designated an estate plan gift to benefit the Playhouse in the future. These generous gifts to our Foundation ensure our artistic progress for the benefit of generations to come. There are special donor recognition opportunities for members of the Encore Society - find out how you can join today!
You should always consult your attorney or financial advisor for assistance in forming a plan of charitable giving that best suits your needs.
