Irish Humor fills "Stones"

Marie Jones' play "Stones In His Pockets" is filled with comedic insights that are intimately tied to language, and that bring us repeated laughs of the belly shaking variety. This type of humor is characteristic of the Irish. What a treat it is to watch how the characters of a small Irish village react as a large Hollywood movie arrives to shoot their epic, historical drama "on location". At the same time we witness the drama of a rural village and a countryside that can no longer escape the changes that are being pressed upon it by the modern world. It is this combination of comedy and pathos that is the most powerful attraction of "Stones". CONTINUE READING...
Apprentice Program Offers One-of-a-Kind Education This program is a professional training appprenticeship program for people from the approximate ages of 16-25 who are interested in becoming skilled in Technical Theatre: Props, Carpentry, Stage Management, Costumes, Lighting and Sound, Painting: Anything behind the scenes. Over a two-year period, apprentices work one-on-one with experienced tradesmen and women who comprise the backbone of the professional technical department, producing 12+ productions each year.
Educational partners with the Playhouse include Metro College where the college credits originate, and local school districts that pair up with the Playhouse for instruction. Upon completion the apprentice earns a certificate from the Department of Labor, an additional certificate from Playhouse and may also qualify for various certificates and eventually an associate’s degree from Metro College if so inclined. After completion, apprentices can go to work, complete their associate’s degree at Metro, or transfer to a four-year institution.
