Gospel music and dance underscore this celebratory musical play which explores African American history as seen through the eyes of a young black woman from Brooklyn. After a life-altering tragedy, she journeys to the South to stay with her aunt. As she meets the “hat queens,” she begins to see how her own fiercely independent spirit is deeply rooted in the cultural traditions of her people. Crowns is a moving and thrilling event to open the 2007/2008 season at the Playhouse.

House an Actor...

Each year, the Nebraska Theatre Caravan produces two professional tours of A Christmas Carol. Just as it does in Omaha, our version of this timeless tale reaches families around the country and puts the holiday spirit into their hearts.  Actors and technicians for these tours come from around the U.S. and need a place to stay while they are rehearsing in Omaha.  Company members come to town in early November and depart prior to Thanksgiving.  It is an enriching experience to share a few weeks with these people who live a nomadic life.  For details please contact Lara Marsh, Artistic Coordinator, at (402) 553-4890 ext. 135

THE PRODUCERS

The Playhouse Producers host four luncheons a season – each of which will educate and entertain members about backstage elements of an upcoming production.
Dues for the season include all luncheons with a standing invitation to bring one guest at no charge!  You can join the Producers Club any time – fees will simply be prorated.

For more information call 553-4890 ext 110. CLICK HERE for the schedule.
