On Stage at OCP

Through upholding high ethical standards, demonstrating respect for all and consciously working to provide diverse representation, OCP is committed to creating an inclusive and safe environment in which all community members feel a sense of belonging and does not discriminate in casting practices on the basis of an individual’s ethnicity, age, gender, physical and cognitive ability, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, country of origin or other factors. Omaha Community Playhouse is committed to diverse and inclusive casting.

Audition Requirements

Omaha Community Playhouse is committed to diverse, inclusive casting. Those auditioning must submit the following:

  1. Audition Form
    Please complete this form prior to arriving for your audition. Completed forms may be submitted electronically or printed and turned in at the audition
  2. Recent Photo
    Please upload a recent photo along with your audition form or bring a printed copy to your audition. Photos do not need to be professional in quality. Printed photos will not be returned.
  3. Availability
    Please be prepared to share your upcoming availability and scheduling conflicts at your audition.

Audition Form

Auditioning for a Play

  • You will be asked to read from the script, which will be provided at the audition.
  • You may be asked to participate in a movement exercise and/or improvisation depending on the play. Please dress comfortably.

Auditioning for a Musical

  • You may be asked to prepare one or more 32 bar cuts of music to sing. An accompanist will be provided. Sheet music in a 3 ring binder is recommended.
  • There may be a dance audition, please come dressed and prepared to move.

Additional Info

  • The Howard and Rhonda Hawks Mainstage Theatre performances are Wednesdays through Saturdays with a 7:30 p.m. curtain and Sundays with a 2:00 p.m. curtain.
  • The Howard Drew Theatre performs Thursdays through Saturdays with a 7:30 p.m. curtain and Sundays with a 2:00 p.m. curtain.
  • Productions run from four to six weeks.
  • Performers and crew who are receiving compensation will each receive two comp tickets per production. Performers and “full-time” crew 19-and-under who do not qualify for compensation will receive four comp tickets per production. “Part-time” crew will receive two comp tickets per production.
  • OCP offers two to three audition dates for every production. You only need to attend ONE of the audition dates to be considered for the production.

 

OCP actors over the age of 18 are classified as independent contractors. As an independent contractor, actors are responsible for all employment taxes and withholding requirements. Contractors are responsible for obtaining and paying the premiums and other costs for any type of insurance that Contractor deems necessary, appropriate, and/or advisable while performing this Agreement. Contractors shall not be entitled to receive any employee benefits of any kind that OCP provides for its employees.

The Omaha Community Playhouse is supported in part by the Nebraska Arts Council, the Nebraska Cultural Endowment and the Douglas County Board of Commissioners. Established in 1924, the Omaha Community Playhouse is the largest community theatre in the United States based on membership sold and facility size, among other factors.
