Two Stages - One Playhouse!

ACT II Mission Statement

ACT II supports the Omaha Community Playhouse
through the efforts of volunteers who provide opportunities for
education, fund raising, promotion and service.

In May 1986, the Omaha Community Playhouse Board of Trustees created ACT II, which incorporated the existing Theatre Guild, to “support the Omaha Community Playhouse through the efforts of volunteers who provide opportunities for educational programs, fund raising, promotion and service.”  That particular quote has remained the ACT II mission statement for 16 years.  Some of ACT II’s early duties included assisting the Nebraska Theatre Caravan (the professional wing of the Playhouse) in Kid’s Day, volunteering as ushers, assisting the administrative and box office staffs, giving Playhouse tours, and creating lobby displays for many productions.  ACT II also compiled and updated Playhouse archives and issued the first ACT II “Behind the Scenes” newsletter.

Over 20 years later, ACT II continues to be integral to the success of the Playhouse, often sponsoring productions, providing children and adults exciting opportunities to experience live theatre and promoting the Playhouse throughout the community.

Perhaps the most important service of ACT II is the generous support the volunteers provide to an organization that relies on community involvement.  The tireless energy and desire to support the Playhouse in whatever way it can is what makes ACT II such a valuable resource to both the staff and patrons of the Omaha Community Playhouse.
